Another Zero Day. Mostly fun and games at the KOA.

First coffee of course. Then First Tylenol. Then we headed out the door for about a mile walk to a Starbucks. It was actually kind of cold and I was in a t-shirt but that just made the latte' that much better. We both enjoyed latte's, spinach-feta wraps, and Beau had a Pup Cup. As we walked back to the KOA we noticed a lot of police activities. Four or five different pull-overs and then several just on the stretch of freeway that we see where we crossed on the overpass. Shortly after getting back to the camp we got in the truck and drove about 20 minutes to an REI where Runningbird got a waterproof case for her new cell phone and a dry bag for the inside of her pack. I should have bought her a life jacket while we there. After a sandwich and a stop at the grocery store for some essentials it was back again to the KOA. We went for a very pleasant jacuzzi, a swim, and then another jacuzzi. It was particularly nice as there was no one else there. The weather report forecasted severe high winds for this afternoon for up to 60 MPH so we were keeping an eye on that. We had most everything secured so we continued with our activities. We went to the campground office and Peggy got a couple of putters and golf balls so we could play putt-putt golf. The doggy K-9 Camp (fenced in area for dogs) was just next to the course so we could talk to Beau while we putted and he could see us. The woman in the shop (I didn't here it) told Peggy the loser of the game was supposed to cook dinner. Peggy totally beat me on the first two holes (she got a hole-in-one on the first hole). I decided I needed to pick up my game. I pulled into the lead after a few more holes and now it seemed the rules had changed. Now it was "Winner, winner cooks the dinner". Well I won the game so I grilled the Impossible Burgers while she made the salads. And they were beautiful salads. Peggy had asked me for a hammer and then I found her on the side of the trailer bashing the heck out of a baggie of ice cubes. She had taken some mint from the manager's herb garden and had bought a bottle of Malibu Rum and was in the process of trying to make me a coconut mojito. All things considered it was pretty good. It got better as I kept adding more rum. I may have won at peewee golf but I still have not beat her at cribbage.

It was a good day. Runningbird's bruises are slowly healing, she is now appropriately outfitted for the coming river crossings. We had relaxation and fun in New Mexico as well as adventure. The heavy winds never came, we had a lovely dinner, Runningbird is relaxing on the bunk. Beau had a fun day with lots of other dogs and lots of new people and is now snuggled on the bunk too. I'm nursing the last of my mojito and will be retiring soon.
