Get your kicks on Route 66

Today was a day spent mostly trying to keep Runningbird off her feet. She did a bit of reading and relaxing and playing with the frozen peas bag. I got the laundry going and then I found my way through the construction along Route 66 to the True Value hardware store. I had to search for the tiny screws that came out of the stove plus lock washers. Ever notice that the smallest, cheapest items take the most work. It probably took a clerk and I close to 30 minutes to get the right size, thread, stainless steel machine screws. And the screws that were in there were (I think I already mentioned this) Allen screws. I had to settle for Phillips head. Total $4.80.

While I was working on the stove and the laundry Runningbird got her backpack restowed and ready to go for the next day. We went out to dinner at El Cafecito on the recommendation of the local barista. It was a busy place, the food was good, and the prices reasonable. During our meal two ladies came around pushing the cinnamon rolls that were left from the morning breakfast. Then a father and young daughter came around to each table selling some southwest jewelry they had made. Not used to that.

Some days are just harder to come up with material to share than others.
