What a great time in a cute New Mexico City

We didn't want to feel we were in a rush today but we did have a lot to do. After first morning coffees we returned e-mails, texts, and took Beau for a short walk. From there we drove into the old part of town again and went to Tranquilbuzz Coffee House. It was such a great little spot with a patio that had little fountains and ponds, coffee tables in individual little areas so you could have intimate conversations or visit with several others. Dogs were allowed in the patio area and Beau gently played with four or five other dogs on the patio. We enjoyed visiting with some of the locals and saw a number of CDT hikers. From there we walked over to the Artisan Mill Bakery again and bought a couple more baguettes, a little vegan breakfast bar, and a spinach-artichoke-Gouda-Parmesan roll that was so extraordinarily delicious. Peggy walked into a little shop two doors down while I walked the pastries (what was left of them) back to the truck. Then I went back to the bakery to get another one of those rolls to actually share with Peggy. Then I stood on a corner curb until I just had to see what was keeping Peggy. The shop she and Beau went into was a weaving shop and it was so neat. I don't think I would have ever thought to call a weaving shop neat. She was in there watching the owner weaving on an old wooden loom and looking at some amazing rugs, one of which had roots of a tree woven into it. So cool! She was telling Peggy about the classes she does and we talked about local places to stay within a block of the shop. You could stay right within a block or two of the shop and take the classes, visit the coffee shop, eat great meals, and visit a number of art shops (think Art Walk). Peggy was sold and wants to come back.

While walking around this section of town we ran into Build-a-Bear again and several of Runningbird's other trail friends. From there we went to a McDonald's and got Beau (and us) an ice cream cone, visited a pet store to get nail clippers for Beau, grocery shopped at Albertson's, and filled up water jugs. Going back to the trailer we got laundry done, washed dishes, Peggy returned phone calls, and we took a drive to the trailhead where she would start tomorrow's trek to have a look. We were going to go out to dinner but opted instead for green salads, her's with tofu and mine with tuna. After showers and some reading we called it a day.
